Girl starts rabies shots after skunk bite

HUNTINGTON - A 9-year-old Huntington girl bitten by a pet skunkhas had the first of a series of rabies shots because the skunk thatwas supposed to be killed to check for rabies has not been found.

And the skunk's owner has been jailed.

Quincie Krismer got her first vaccination Saturday, 11 days aftershe said she was bitten by a pet skunk that a Huntington womanbrought to Ritter Park.

Circuit Judge David Pancake ordered Robin Sarvas to take theskunk to be euthanized so it could be tested for rabies, or go tojail for as long as Krismer is receiving vaccination shots. Sheremained in the Cabell County Jail Sunday.
